The Tractor Analogy: Small Adjustments, Big Improvements in Your Golf Game

Let me ask you to imagine something for a moment. Picture yourself standing in the middle of a

vast, open field. In front of you are two tractors. The first one, let’s call it Tractor #1, is ready to

go. You line up the steering wheel straight, put a brick on the accelerator, and let it roll off in a

dead-straight line. It’s all set, no distractions—just a simple, linear path. Now, here comes Tractor #2. Before you send it on its way, though, you do one thing: you turn the steering wheel just one inch to the right. That’s it. One tiny, almost imperceptible change. Then, just like with Tractor #1, you put a brick on the gas and let it go. Here’s the big question: after both tractors have traveled one mile, how far apart will they be from each other? The answer is: really far apart. It might seem surprising, right? Just one inch of difference at the start led to a massive gap after traveling a relatively short distance. But that’s the thing about small changes—they compound over time. Even a tiny deviation in direction can lead to a completely different outcome, a completely different destination.

What Does This Have to Do with Golf?

Your golf game is exactly the same. Most golfers spend hours practicing, repeating the same mistakes, following outdated advice, or hoping that someday, magically, everything will click into place. But here’s the truth: if you keep practicing the same bad habits, hoping for improvement without changing your approach, you’re just like Tractor #1. You’ll end up traveling the same path, stuck in the same place, never improving as you hope. The average core for golfers today is essentially the same as it was decades ago. Despite advances in equipment, coaching methods, and training tools, golfers are still struggling to lower their scores. Why? Because they continue practicing the wrong things, or they’re distracted by the latest fads and fixes without focusing on the fundamentals. They’re not making the tiny, critical adjustments that lead to real, lasting improvements.

How Small Changes Lead to Big Improvements in Your Game

This is where my program comes in. Much like the tractors, it’s all about those small, strategic adjustments that make all the difference in the long run. My philosophy is built on getting back to the fundamentals of the game, the basics that are often overlooked in the pursuit of quick fixes or flashy drills.

The Swing Fundamentals

We start with the foundation of the game—the golf swing. If you’re not building on solid fundamentals, your swing won’t be as effective or consistent. With my approach, we work on making sure you’re not just swinging harder, but swinging smarter. Proper alignment, grip, posture, and rotation—all of these are essential to making solid contact with the ball and hitting more consistent shots.

Mastering the Short Game

Next, we dive deep into your short game, where most of your strokes are lost or gained. I’ll help you improve your chipping, pitching, and, crucially, your putting. We’ll use techniques like AimPoint to refine your green reading, and focus on mastering speed control. When you start sinking more putts and eliminating those dreaded three-putts, you’ll immediately notice a difference in your score.

Mental Mastery

But it’s not just physical technique. Golf is a mental game, too. That’s why we’ll also focus on the psychological aspects of the game—how to stay calm under pressure, how to manage your emotions, and how to play with confidence. Instead of constantly worrying about your swing, you’ll learn how to play the game of golf, not just the swing.

Taking It to the Course

Here’s the key difference: we don’t just work on these changes on the practice range. We take it to the course. This is where the magic happens—applying these small, strategic adjustments in real-game situations.

On the course, you’ll learn how to navigate different lies, make smarter decisions, and translate your practice into performance. Whether it’s fine-tuning your approach shots, managing tricky greens, or mastering course strategy, this is where everything comes together.
